About Fit with finesse
Fit with Finesse is a wellness community for women of color who unapologetically live their best lives with a carefree attitude, weights in their hands, and a tune in their heart.
I was a bunhead growing up, and danced, throughout high school. Once I started college, I pretty much let anything related to fitness go. In 2011, I moved from Mississippi to Los Angeles to kick start my career as a corporate communications professional, but the move also led to my love and passion for fitness.
Whether it was a dance class or weight lifting, I found that the gym never turned into a chore. I began loving my evening workouts and continued to push myself further. The fact that LA is such an active city meant that all I had to do was lace up my tennis shoes and the world of fitness was at my feet. Since that time, I've tried just about any workout you can think. I developed a genuine passion and love for the adrenaline and community that fitness brings.
In October 2017, I moved to Memphis, TN. Now I get to explore a whole new city, with a completely different vibe and fitness scene. Once again, I've been pushed out of my comfort zone and I'm looking forward to a new set of #fitventures.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, home of the kale smoothies and vegan cupcakes! So, it’s no surprise that I fell in love with health and wellness at an early age. As a kid, I was obsessed with Janet Jackson. Everything about her was fantastic, her dance moves, how she switched up her look, and especially her abs! I remember reading a Janet Jackson interview in Women’s Health magazine; when Janet said she only ate egg whites, out went my yolks too!
Today you can find me bringing out my inner Ms. Jackson, lifting weights, hiking, or dancing to my favorite song. Lovingly known as the girl with the Angela Bassett arms, I’m always searching for fun new ways to challenge my body and mind. When I'm not hitting the gym, I'm in my second favorite place the kitchen! Also known as my happy place, the kitchen is where I love discovering ways to make healthy versions of my favorite meals because being healthy can taste really good!
