At the end of each month, we spotlight one woman of color who is making strides and inspiring others in the health and wellness space. This month, that woman is Y-O-U!
We reached our one year anniversary back in April and chose to celebrate with our readers and friends. On July 27, we hosted our second Fit with Finesse event at ZenStudio in Memphis, Tennessee and it could not have been more of a testament to our mission. Fit with Finesse aims to be a space for women of color looking to live their best, fit lives. We started this blog to highlight diversity in the fitness industry. Our Hustle and Flow event and ZenStudio lived up to all of that…and more.
We joined forces with Houston-based trainer Roz Jones for a two-part class. The event kicked off with CaCera teaching a high-energy, high-intensity bounceSCULPT class. The group completed a full-body, circuit-style workout using mini trampolines to not only build strength, but test their balance and agility. Then, we took a moment for self-care with Roz leading the group through a 45-minute yoga class. After a tough workout, the ZenStudio crew hosted a mimosa + waffle bar - because it is all about balance, right? Attendees left with some really cool swag from Fit with Finesse, Roz’s Fit. Life.Style. brand and ZenStudio merch.
Between our Los Angeles celebration in May and the Memphis celebration in July, we’ve been able to connect with more of our readers. We’ve had fun sweating and finding different ways to get moving together. Regardless of shape, size, or age, everyone gave it their all and pushed themselves past their comfort zone. That’s where real change happens, physically and mentally. The strength, sisterhood and support displayed at both events is why each of you are our #FitGirlMagic!
We have to say thank you to Roz Jones for collaborating with us, Camden Hyneman and the ZenStudio crew for all of their support and help to bring this event to life. We cannot heart you enough!! And we are shouting out The Shirt Spot for our sweet swag, Natalia Yarger (graphic design), and Irwin Magevney (Ziya Active representative).
