Fit + Finesse Cooking Party: Cabin Edition

We are kicking off Women's History Month with a flashback to a recent girl's trip we took. Celebrating amazing women is such a large part of Fit + Finesse - and who we are as individuals.  CaCera had an idea a few months ago to plan a trip for some of the most phenomenal and hardworking women she knows. With that, our beautiful, snow-filled weekend in Breckenridge was born.

Fitventure on the Slopes!

Not one to shy away from adventure, CaCera fell in love with skiing a few years ago and wanted to share that experience with her friends! After two years of limited interaction, the breathtaking Breckenridge mountain views and fresh air were much needed. We did not need or expect the struggles that came with adapting to such high elevation! Even those of us with the endurance of a long-distance runner were no match for the flight of stairs hundreds of miles above sea level.

Friday: Pizza Party & Jams (Minus a Rental Car)

From the moment we entered the city of Breck, there was no shortage of things to navigate. The trip started off well enough. With all the ladies meeting from the east and west, these would-be snow bunnies were happy to see each other. But every good trip has a story, and ours was getting a rental car with no snow tires and no way to get to our cabin. But, women are resilient, and a phone call and a few Ubers later, Friday Night was all about the Pizza and Pajama Jam. If you have not heard of the game AuxGods, definitely order it for your next friend or family getaway. It's entertaining with a glass of champagne!

Saturday: Ski, Spas, and Courage

Shawnie and CaCera trekked off to ski while the rest of our crew got in some downtime at the local spa.  If you are ever in the area, make things easier on yourself by letting Epic Mountain Rentals handle everything. After a few short clicks on their website, we had our lessons booked, and our ski equipment delivered right to our cabin door. We even got tips on putting everything on before our afternoon ski lesson.

Speaking of lessons, the instructor was patient, encouraging, and thorough. We truly felt empowered to take on a slop by ourselves. That is until we wiped out getting off the lift. Skiing down the green slope (aka beginner) was a struggle with a capital S. We're pretty sure we were going Olympic speeds at different points. Although there were a few moments of "Nah," we made it to the bottom of the hill, and we still looked cute doing it!

It was only natural to celebrate our victory with some amazing coffee from Gravity Haus. Their space and drinks were a highlight.

Snowmobiles, Sculptures & Fancy Dinners

On Sunday, we all headed out to Camp Hale Lodge for a snowmobile tour by Nova Guides. This was truly the highlight of everyone's trip. There was thrill and excitement, a history lesson, speed…a little tip over in the snow that Shawnie will never forget. The ride to the lodge was also breathtakingly beautiful. We wrapped our trip with a dinner at Hearthstone Restaurant.

Fit + Finesse Cooking Party!

We couldn't take this trip and not incorporate a little Fit with Finesse razzle-dazzle. Something about cooking together brings people closer and is really an intimate experience. We thought Saturday night would be a great chance to throw a dinner party…literally.

We split our crew up into pairs, and each team cooked a dish for dinner. The cooking portion was lit with a curated playlist and some fun questions for everyone to answer. Some of the most memorable moments from the trip happened when we prepared dinner together. It was a night full of laughter, sharing, and even some tears. We are genuinely full from the experience.

As a treat to you, we've included recipes from our dinner below. Check them out and let us know which you plan to try this week.
