Are we done yet?!

Imagine you are at the end of a tough workout, dripping with sweat, and just on the brink of pure exhaustion.  You hear your trainer yell, "let's end this workout strong with a finisher!" Finishers are short & fun, but intense burst of movement that empties out your tank. You are officially laid out, but with a smile on your face because you pushed through your comfort zone.

That, our friends, is the point of a finisher!

A finisher encompasses quick and intense bursts of cardio and/or strength exercises performed at the end of a regular workout. They can range from one minute to 10 minutes and are designed to fully exhaust your body.

So, Why Exhaust Your Body?

Workout Finishers can help increase your overall calorie burn by taking advantage of your post-exercise oxygen consumption, also known as (EPOC). According to the American Council On Exercise, EPOC is the amount of oxygen required to restore your body to it's normal, resting level of metabolic function. Basically, your body continues to burn more calories long after your workout is over.

Who wouldn't love that?

Below we are giving you a few examples of fun, challenging finishers that we've incorporated into our own routines. Give them a try and let us know if you feel the burn!

Give me a beat!

It’s no secret we love music, and songs can be an awesome guide to a killer finisher.

For example, hold a plank during a verse, and hit those push-ups during the chorus, hollow-hold during the verse, and start those sit-ups during the chorus. You get the picture!

Some good songs to get you started

Started from the Bottom - Drake

Love the Way You Lie - Rihanna & Eminem
